Caring

Annual Chinese New Year Grocery & Voucher Distribution

Each Lunar New Year, our grocery and voucher distribution programme supports 30-40 ComCare households in Changi Simei. Funded by Changi Simei CCC CDWF, beneficiaries receive NTUC vouchers and essential food items, helping ease their festive expenses while fostering community spirit.

Changi Simei CARE Team

Since 2023, the Changi Simei Care Team has supported vulnerable residents, particularly seniors living alone, with home maintenance needs. Initially focused on helping seniors prepare for the Home Improvement Program (HIP), the team now assists with general home upkeep and decluttering.

Community Fridges @ Changi Simei

Two community fridges at Block 132 Simei Street 1 serve over 100 residents with fresh produce and surplus food donated by community gardeners and partners. Operating since November 2021, this sustainable food-sharing initiative thrives through word-of-mouth and regular community contributions.

Policy Conversations @ Changi Simei

Changi Simei regularly organises community dialogues and educational talks to help residents better understand national policies and how these impact their daily lives. These sessions aim to empower residents with the knowledge to make informed decisions for themselves and their families. Most recently, over 300 residents attended a talk on the Lasting Power of Attorney (LPA), where experts from IFPAS, Keystone Clinic & Surgery, and Emre Legal LLC provided practical guidance on future planning and personal safeguards.

Vibrant

Viaduct Fiesta!

VIASTA! (Viaduct Fiesta), our community marketplace event, has drawn over 3,000 participants across two successful editions in May and November 2024. The event brings together key partners like Changi General Hospital, ITE College East, and SUTD, alongside community initiatives such as our local garden produce distribution. Following positive media coverage and strong community engagement, the third edition is planned for May 2025.

Girls4Tech Workshop

In partnership with Mastercard, East Coast GRC has hosted two successful Girls4Tech workshops, engaging 126 girls aged 9-12 in STEM education. The programme, developed by educators and Mastercard experts, teaches practical problem-solving through technology. Following successful sessions in June 2022 and December 2023, we plan to expand the programme with an updated curriculum in 2025.

Chinese New Year Celebrations @ Changi Simei

Over the 2025 Lunar New Year weekend (8-9 February), Changi Simei's RCs and NCs organised 15 community celebrations across public spaces and condominiums. These inclusive festivities drew more than 1,500 residents, highlighting our community's strong social bonds and shared cultural spirit.

Fitness & Healthier Living

As part of ongoing efforts to support healthier lifestyles in Changi Simei, residents of all ages are invited to join in community fitness activities that promote physical and mental well-being. Organised in partnership with organisations like Brahm Centre and the Active Ageing Council, these sessions feature accessible stretching and low-impact workouts that cater to both seniors and families. With strong volunteer support from youth groups such as Republic Polytechnic, this initiative fosters a more active, connected, and health-conscious Simei.

Green

Community Gardens @ Changi Simei

Changi Simei is home to a growing network of community gardens that bring residents together through a shared love for nature, sustainability, and neighbourliness. One standout is the Pelatok Art Farm, established in July 2022 as a collaboration between Changi Simei CC, SUTD, SAA Architects, and Changi General Hospital. Managed by 70 dedicated residents, the garden blends urban farming with community art and produces shared harvests for the neighbourhood.

Alongside Pelatok, other community gardens across Changi Simei continue to thrive—each space a platform for bonding, wellness, and hands-on learning, where neighbours come together to grow not just food, but friendships.

Harmony with Nature - Tree Planting & Litter Picking

Our quarterly environmental initiative brings together 80-120 residents for tree planting and litter picking activities across Changi Simei. Supported by NParks and East Coast Town Council, these sessions help maintain our estate's cleanliness while expanding our green canopy, fostering both community spirit and environmental stewardship.

Recycling @ Changi Simei

Our bi-monthly recycling programme, organised by Residents' Committees in partnership with East Coast Town Council and recycling vendors, operates across five RC Centres. Each three-hour session attracts 40-50 residents who can drop off recyclables and e-waste at their preferred location, making sustainable practices more accessible to our community.
