Caring

Joo Chiat Deep Clean

In collaboration with the National Environment Agency (NEA), a thorough deep cleaning initiative was scheduled for estates in Joo Chiat to ensure a cleaner, more pleasant environment for residents. The comprehensive operation encompassed surface cleaning of public spaces, including potential rodent habitats, litter collection, bin maintenance, leaf clearing, waste removal, and grass verge cleaning. Additionally, intensive drain maintenance included desilting and flushing of open and closed drains, as well as drop inlet chambers, using BTI-infused water and high-pressure equipment. The heavy equipment used included the advanced Cappellotto all-in-one drain flushing and desilting vacuum vehicle.

Festive Distribution

Throughout the year, our dedicated volunteers bring joy and warmth to senior residents through thoughtfully planned festive distributions, creating meaningful connections during celebrations like Chinese New Year and Hari Raya Puasa. These heartwarming house visits see volunteers arriving at doorsteps with carefully curated festive packages featuring traditional delicacies such as homemade pineapple tarts, nonya kueh, and seasonal treats. These visits not only spread festive cheer but also strengthen the social fabric of our community, ensuring our elderly residents remain connected and celebrated during these special occasions.

Vibrant

Opera Estate Halloween

Opera Estate Halloween delivered a spectacular night of community festivities, drawing over 3,000 residents to experience its expanded attractions, including four meticulously designed scare zones along the Siglap Park Connector and the debut of an exhilarating Gel Blaster Shootout by Tactical Zone SG. The community spirit shone through as more than 50 houses participated in the trick-or-treat trail, with residents competing in the best-decorated house competition. The scare zones proved to be a highlight, while families with younger children delighted in the milder attractions, including game booths, a bouncy castle, and entertaining street performances featuring magicians, jugglers, and stilt walkers. What began as a small neighbourhood initiative has evolved into one of Joo Chiat's most anticipated annual community events, successfully bringing together residents of all ages for a night of Halloween entertainment.

Music x Makan

The inaugural Joo Chiat Music x Makan transformed the shoreline into a vibrant celebration of local culture, drawing crowds who enjoyed a perfect blend of live performances and authentic cuisine. Festivalgoers were treated to an eclectic mix of musical acts while sampling a diverse selection of local delicacies from the numerous food stalls that lined the beachfront.

Green

Community Gardens

The community gardens located at Telok Kurau Park and Siglap South Community Centre serve as shared green spaces tended by volunteers. These gardens feature areas dedicated to growing various edible plants for community sharing alongside habitat-enriching gardens that nurture local biodiversity. The community gardens also support community bonding and other social activities, making them hubs for connection between residents.

Food Rescue

NTUC FairPrice has partnered with us in an initiative to rescue and redistribute imperfect fruits and vegetables to residents through regular monthly distributions. Under this initiative, volunteers collect donated produce from an NTUC FairPrice outlet and distribute it during the monthly food rescue. This initiative helps reduce food waste and promotes a zero-waste mindset among residents.
